Wilmington COVID19 remote work arrangements
The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has been categorized as a pandemic, meaning infection is accelerating globally. The United States of America has declared travel bans on many countries, many countries have closed schools and universities, and large gatherings of people have been banned.
In response the this pandemic Wilmington Global decided to adapt a firm wide work-from-home policy.
Work from home requirements
For a better work from home experience we recommend that each employee should have the following:
-Computer.
-Internet connection (broad band of fiber optic), it is recommended to have connection with speed no less that 15 Mb.
-Access to Wilmington’s collaboration tools (secure messenger and file sharing services).
-Access to the local firm VPN services.
-Access to the firm’s email services.
-A dedicated work space.
-A strict work routine and clear daily plan.
Security of company devices
Our staff will be exposing the firm’s computers to greater risk as they leave the safety and security of the workplace. As a remote staff, it will be the responsibility of each individual to ensure that firm’s devices are protected against loss and theft.
Other considerations
For an effective work from home policy, we recommend that all work groups leaders across the firm to do the following:
- Consider having team calls once per day, brief people on the status, and give everyone the opportunity to share experiences and issues.
- Line managers need to implement procedures that allow them to ascertain whether the remote workers are getting the job done
- Agree a method of clocking on and off, even if it’s as simple as a team group chat and members saying good morning when they start their day
- Distribute the contact details: all remote workers need to know how to get help when needed.
